Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), commonly referred to as "Graston technique," is another way to influence soft tissue. Maybe. The general idea, or hypothesized therapeutic value, is the breakdown of adhesions and scar tissue. That's certainly not happening, but some people find benefit from it, for whatever reason. The efficacy of IASTM has not been demonstrated and the technique does not fare well in randomized control trials, but that’s typical for passive care modalities.
Nothing works, or everything works some of the time.
What works or will work for you?
I have steel tools,(and buyers remorse), that are designed to be scraped against the skin, and I know how to scrape skin with them, if you are so inclined to try it out, I won't charge you for it.
