Tension headaches are the most common type of primary headache. They effect millions of people worldwide, but we’re still uncertain about what causes them.
The best guess to date is that emotional stress or past physical trauma increases muscular tension in the head, neck, and face, which sometimes results in a headache.
These headaches often feel like pressure or tightness around the head, especially at the base of the skull or in the neck. If you're experiencing tension-type headaches that seem to originate from your neck, consider a chiropractic adjustment since it's free.

How a chiropractic adjustments might help, if a chiropractic adjustment does actually help.
A chiropractic adjustment of the cervical spine is believed to induce a stretch-response-inhibition to deep cervical musculature when a vertebral-motion-segment is moved quickly through end range. Inhibiting the tension caused by over facilitated musculature may decrease the severity, frequency, and duration of tension type headaches.
Chiropractic adjustments are only as clinically significant as a placebo for migraines.
